Are you considering purchasing a 2Pong table for your home, but not sure where to start? With so many options on the market, it can be overwhelming to know what to look for. A 2Pong table is a great investment for any home, providing hours of entertainment for both children and adults.
However, it's important to make an informed decision. In this blog, we will discuss what you need to know when buying a 2Pong table for your home, including the different types available, the features to look for, and some helpful tips to consider before making your purchase.
How much space is needed?
The primary factor to take into account when contemplating a table tennis table purchase is the amount of space available in your home. Let's examine the required space in detail.
A full-size 2Pong table is 2.74 meters in length and 1.525 meters in width. However, additional space is needed behind and beside the table to allow for gameplay.
Ideally, there should be four paces (approximately 2 meters) behind each end of the table and two paces (approximately 1 meter) on either side of the table.
So you can see from the diagram above, ideally you need a room which is at least 6.74 metres long and 3.525 metres wide.
Options if you do not have space
If you do not have the space recommended above, you still have options.
1. Buy a 2Pong mid-size tableThe 2Pong mid-size table is about 3/4 the size of a full-size table. This is fine if you’re only going to play for a bit of fun with friends and family. You’ll get plenty of enjoyment from the table.
I have a mid-size table at my student house. It fits well in the living room. We have 7 guys, so space is limited, but we have no problem clearing space in the living room to set up the table.
2. Buy a 2Pong retractable netIn some cases, you may have a sufficiently spacious room but find that the area is already occupied by a dining table. If this scenario applies to you, it may be worth considering purchasing a 2Pong retractable net instead.
The net can extend up to 6 feet and be clamped on to the dining table during playtime and then stowed away when not in use. The net can also fit onto mid-size and full-size tables. In the image above I am using one on my mid-size table.
I personally opt for a retractable net while on vacation so I can play 2Pong anywhere I go. It was effortless to set up on most table surfaces.
3. Go outside or garageVarious online articles suggest that indoor tables should not be stored in a garage due to the cold conditions that may warp the table. However, in my personal experience, I do not find this advice to be entirely accurate. I stored my indoor table tennis table in my garage for several years, and it remained in perfect condition without any deterioration. Therefore, it is acceptable to store an indoor table in it, but take precaution.
If you are thinking about playing outdoors, I suggest looking into an outdoor table that can withstand natural elements.
